As a PVD coater for bipolar plates and PTLs, Aalberts surface technologies in Lübeck has a coating capacity of about 5 GW of electrolyser capacity for hydrogen production. Due to long delivery times for new equipment, the market for coating capacity for bipolar plates is still very limited. Due to high demand, we are currently successively expanding our four existing in-line plants to meet the exponentially growing market. In addition to the development of precious metal-containing and -free coatings, the ramp-up of coating performance is currently the key challenge for the success of hydrogen technologies.

Metal vapor deposition (PVD technology), with its individually adjustable nanoscaling, offers the possibility of refining high-performance components, even with precious metals, in an extremely resource-efficient manner. In this way, we increase the performance of electrolyzers and strengthen their resistance to corrosion. In addition, we also offer precious metal-free coatings for mobile applications.

With our high-performance R&D, Aalberts surface technologies Lübeck can design the appropriate coating for each specific customer application and to map it in small to large series production.
