Sometimes, strong protection is not enough. Then you need a surface coating that minimises the effect of damage or, as in the case of the visor of a motorcycle helmet, protects against scratches or fogging.

MICROFINISH®

MICROFINISH® is a wear-resistant and transparent corrosion protection. It can even be used for complex three-dimensional component geometries without developing the stretch cracks typical of this type of use.

The highly flexible and micro fine thin-layer process allows pre-coated components to be treated using a deformation process. The coating process is also suitable for smooth, polished or finely structured surfaces. The MICROFINISH® layer is completely transparent and contour-following so that the brightness or structure of the original surface are maintained. No reworking, such as polishing the surface again, is necessary.

  • Characteristics

    MICROFINISH® is characterized by the following characteristics:

    • Flexibility: No cracking when the part is later reshaped
    • Temperature resistance
    • Durable scratch protection
    • Optimum corrosion protection
    • Very good nonstick properties
    • Suitable for complex three-dimensional shapes

    Due to the relatively low process temperature, there is no danger of warpage or discoloring of the components to be coated.

  • Base Materials

    MICROFINISH® is suitable for all conductive metal surfaces.

  • Field of Application

    The thin nanolayer is used for forming tools, punch films, aluminium alloys and many other applications demanding high-quality coating that closely follows the contours of the surface. MICROFINISH® is especially suited as a corrision and scratch protection coating for aluminium alloys or as a nonstick coating for molding tools and punch films. The gloss level and the surface structure of the workpiece are not in any way impacted.

NANOFINISH®

Based on very thin layers, NANOFINISH® follows the contour of the relevant part, creating infiltration resistant nonstick coatings.

Damage to the surface coating usually leads to infiltration of the function layers. This is not the case with nanocoating: NANOFINISH® ensures that the damage is restricted to the local area.

  • Characteristics

    Nanofinish® is a infiltration resistant nonstick coating. It prevents the protective coating at the damaged point from being infiltrated by gas or liquid. The defect remains localized and cannot spread to other parts of the workpiece. Nanofinish® also offers excellent corrosion protection.

  • Base Materials

    NANOFINISH® can be applied to almost any substrate.

  • Field of Application

    This nanocoating is particularly well suited for polished components and high precision applications, e.g. as an ultra-thin nonstick coating for easy removal of molded parts or as a protective film for a wide range of surfaces. This type of high-performance surface refining is used e.g. to coat casting molds for the electronics industry and medical products. Nanofinish® also offers excellent corrosion protection for a wide range of applications requiring high precision and consistent functionality.

ORMOCER®

An outstanding feature of the transparent nanocoating Ormocer® is its high resistance to scratching. It is similar to glass - not only because ti is crystal clear, but because it is just about as hard as glass. It significantly reduces the cloudiness of polycarbonates.

  • Characteristics

    This inorganic-organic hybrid polymer is transparent as well as resistant to scratching. Its functionality can be expanded as needed by adding properties such as: Coloring, resistance to dirt and water.

  • Base Materials

    ORMOCER® can be bond securely to many different materials.

  • Field of Application

    These are a few of the common applications that use our ORMOCER®:

    Optical industry:

    • Visors on motorcycle helmets resist scratching and cloudiness (panes and eyeglasses are also treated with our excellent anti-fog coating.)
    • Glass objects such as prisms, lenses or camera objectives are replaced with much lighter plastic parts
